For many youths the Y is a starting point. Where they learn about becoming and staying active. Where they develop healthy habits and skills that they can utilize throughout their lifetime. It is so much more than just the physical activity and health; it’s about gaining confidence, building relationship and becoming a great teammate. Participating in Y sports and programs is about building the child from the inside out.

3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

For Boys 4th-6th Grade and Girls 3rd-6th Grade

When: Saturday, October 28, 2017 Tournament will begin at 1:00 p.m. 
Where: Aberdeen Family YMCA 
Registration Fee: $15.00 per player Teams must register at the Aberdeen Family YMCA or by mailing the Registration Form and payment to 5 S. State Street Aberdeen, SD 57401 
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Number of teams will be limited, and early registration gives teams a better chance of getting into the tournament

Archery 

The co-ed archery program is designed for the beginner and intermediate archer, in grades 3rd – 6th. During the session participants will learn the fundamentals such as stance and shooting techniques.

Session Dates:

Session 1: September 19 – October 10, 2017 Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
Session 2:  September 19 – October 10, 2017 Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Floor Hockey

Co-Ed Floor Hockey is a five week session, that is put on as a partnership between the Aberdeen Family YMCA and the Aberdeen Wings (NAHL). During the session participants will learn and develop puck handling, stick handling while they continue to develop their skills in hockey. The suggested ages for this program are participants in grades 1st- 4th. 

Season Dates:

October 3- November 7, 2017 
Tuesday Nights 
1st and 2nd Grade: 6:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. 
3rd and 4th Grade: 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball league for participants in grades 1st- 6th, will focus on the fundamentals  taught by caring coaches to develop basketball specific skills. 

Season Dates:

October 14-  December 16, 2017
Games will be played on Saturday mornings. Practice times and days will be determined by coaches, after the coaches meeting.

Kindergarten Basketball

Kindergarten Basketball is an introductory program designed as a positive experience for both kindergarten boys and girls. There are no games, no teams, and no winner or losers. No previous basketball experience needed! The focus throughout this program is on drills, skills and lots of fun! The session is 5 weeks, one time per week. Limit 50 kids per session.

CrossFit Kids

CrossFit Kids teaches proper form and mechanics in functional and athletic movements in classes that are different every day. It is the goal of the program to make fitness fun and accessible for all. Each child is instructed at his or her level, allowing each participant to experience challenges and rewards with every class.

The focus is on: Strength, Balance, Coordination, Flexibility, Stamina, Speed, Agility, Power, Endurance and Accuracy.
