Lifeguard/Blended Learning Course
|Blended learning offering of the Lifeguarding program combines online knowledge acquisition and in-person water, first aid and CPR/AED skills training. Building on the same knowledge and skills as our traditional in-person only training, the course trains lifeguards to act with speed and confidence in emergency situations both in and out of the water. Topics include water rescue skills, surveillance and recognition, first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies, CPR, AED and more. The program reflects the latest CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science and findings from the 2011 United States Lifeguard Standards Coalition Report. Plus, the online format enables participants to complete interactive lessons and activities on their own time. Instructor-led sessions reinforce learning and emphasize skill building.
Water Safety Instructor Training
|This course is designed to train swim lesson instructors. Participants must be 16 years of age by the last day of class, and be able to complete level 4 exit skills. Pre-test of level 4 skills will be done the first night of class. Participants need to bring a one piece suit or swim trunks and goggles. On the Monday before the weekend class, an email link will be sent to each participant for the pre-course work – so make sure to submit a correct email address!
|This course is for certified Lifeguards who need to renew their Lifeguarding and First Aid certifications. Participants must be currently certified or within about three months of expiration. Participants will take the written test for Lifeguarding and First Aid training, as well as perform all the skills learned in a Lifeguarding class. There will be limited review for this test so it is expected that participants have reviewed all information before attending this challenging course.
