Child Care: Child Watch: Policies & Procedures

Child Watch SIGN IN/OUT PROCEDURES
For the safety of children, every parent or guardian using the Child Watch service will be required  to sign in and sign out on the log sheets in the Child Watch area.

If another person is picking up your child, please inform the Child Watch staff. That person must be authorized on your child’s registration form.

Please allow plenty of time prior to your class start time to complete this process.

DIAPERING
Parents are asked to leave their child in Child Watch with a full tummy and a clean diaper. If needed, staff will change diapers, but parents must provide diapers and wipes.

If your child is in the process of potty training, please bring a pull-up and/or change of clothes in case of an accident.

PERSONAL ITEMS

  • Please label all items belonging to your child.
  • Please do not allow your child to bring toys, money, and/or other items from home as these objects are lost and pose a danger to small children. We cannot be responsible for lost or broken items.
  • Due to sanitary reasons, pacifiers must be attached to the child with pacifier clips.

FOOD
Food is not allowed in Child Watch! Food may create health hazards due to food allergies.

PLAYTIME
Interaction is important in our Child Watch program.  Your child will play with other children and caregivers.  We will provide some structured activities such as reading, crafts and games. We have art supplies, blocks, books, music and toys to stimulate their imaginations. Your child will be treated in a friendly, positive and courteous manner.

ILLNESS
For the safety of other children/staff, your child will not be able to stay in the Child Watch if any of the following are present :

  • Watery, inflamed eyes, or any eye discharge
  • Deep, severe cough
  • Heavy or discolored nasal discharge
  • Vomiting/diarrhea
  • Rash/unusual skin condition
  • Fever above 99
  • Lethargic

Children must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to returning to Child Watch.

UPSET CHILD
If a Child Watch staff is unable to console a child after 10-15 minutes of continuous stress, the parent/guardian will be contacted and asked to come pick up the child from Child Watch. If you would like us to locate you after a shorter period of time, please let a staff member know.

STORM CLOSING
The child Watch will close on storm days if a “no travel advisory” is issued by the City of Aberdeen.  Please call if you have questions regarding the weather.
