REMODELING TO
BETTER SERVE YOU

Many of our members might be wondering what is going on with the Meditative Studio. We will be moving it! The new Meditative Studio will be completed in few weeks and will be located in the old Teen Center. Contractors have been working on the area for a month now and we are close to being able to move in! The old space will be the new TRX zone along with space for personal training. We are excited to offer this space for our members and we are motivated to continue to serve the entire community. It is our desire to fulfill our healthy living goal for all in the community and it starts now at your Y.
FISHING & FUN
August was a busy month for Sidekicks – Youth Mentoring Program. They held their 1st Annual Kids Fishing Derby at Wylie Park on August 7th. Fifty-seven kids enjoyed pizza, pop, snacks, prizes and fishing. We thank the countless number of volunteers and businesses who helped us with our event. Nick Cochran from South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks gave the children some pointers and also provided fishing rods and tackle for the kids. Grant Fritz, Brooke Backous, Breah Webb, Lucy Fritz, Connor Kannas, Brayden Webb, Maria Jenkins, Matt Trenhaile, Colton Hellwig, and Kristin Kjenstad were the top fisherman in their age divisions. Darla Rousseau and Austin Jenkin were the big lucky winners whose names were drawn for a new fishing rod and tackle.

COMMUNITY
SPOTLIGHT
RUN@WORK DAY / RUN@SCHOOL DAY

If adults can lead by example, if companies can encourage healthy living through physical activity promotion, then together we can combat the national inactivity crisis gripping our nation and our children.
On September 20, the goal of RUN@WORK Day and RUN@School Day, presented by the Road Runners Club of America and Y, is to encourage adults and children to get 30-minutes of exercise each day, in accordance with the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, either before work/school, during lunch, or immediately following work/school.
RUN@WORK Day also encourages companies to help employees schedule time for physical activity. Incorporating exercise into one’s daily routine can markedly improve one’s overall physical health.
The Y will kick-off their event by starting with an 6:45am run and health post-run nutritional snack on Friday, September 20th. Participants will be given a running log that includes a daily workout, an opportunity to meet with other new and experienced runners, also 10 weekly coaching session from experienced runners, as well as an opportunity to run the Warner Wobble Gobble Fun Run at a discounted price at the end of the 10-weeks of training! This is free to all Y members. Please contact Jackie Braun at
jbraun@aberdeenymca.org for more information.
