Adding/updating your mailing and email address will help us keep you informed about upcoming specials, changes to your membership and important news about the Y. NOTE: Your email address is never shared, and the Y database is secure. Additionally, we can help you get setup with our online registration system.
Aren't able to make it in? That's okay! Just fill out our form HERE. Have questions? Please contact Jenny Andera.
CHAD MIELKE
NAMED EMPLOYEE OF
THE QUARTER

Chad Mielke from our Buildings and Grounds department has made a large impact on our Y. Chad always has a pleasant attitude and always has a smile on his face. When asked to do something, he goes above and beyond. Chad exemplifies the core values of the Y by how he treats others and always takes the time to help anyone who needs it.
Chad really cares about the Y and it's members, he proves this daily, not only by the way he keeps this building clean, but by the way he treats everyone. Chad is a well-rounded individual with great values and morals. We think he is incredibly deserving of this! Way to go Chad!

ANN TAECKER VISITS
THE YDC

Visual artist Ann E. Taecker conducted workshops for local childcare participants as
part of the South Dakota Arts Council’s Artists In Schools & Communities program. The
artist worked with various ages during the residency in Aberdeen from December 29th to
the 31st.
While here with us at the YDC, Ann had the children drawing characters from the
famous “Wizard of Oz” to correlate with the building. She then transpired the drawings
onto canvases for the children to paint. She took little details from multiple different
pictures to come up with the characters that we wanted to portray. Ann visited us last
year where the children completed 5 canvases. This year Ann took on 6 canvases with
the wicked witch canvas that was done by the staff. The children enjoy everything that
Ann does with them and we had such a wonderful time with her.
This program is sponsored by the Aberdeen Family YMCA, with support provided by the
South Dakota Arts Council with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the
Department of Tourism and State Development, and the National Endowment for the
Arts.
