MAKING MEMORIES
ONE SUMMER AT A TIME
CAMP DREAMMAKERS
Camp DREAMMakers just completed their summer day camps and were very successful for the 5th year. The campers had an awesome time doing different activities throughout the area that they do not always get to do. They loved the friendships that they had before and the new ones they made during camp. Camp is for kids 5 to graduating from high school with a disability.
Some of the activities included boating at Richmond Lake (pictured above), swimming at the Y, and a car wash where campers gave back to the community as thanks for their support.

FROM KITCHEN TO 5K
"Thanks Aberdeen Family Y for being part of my first wellness goal! I participated in the Bull Run 5K. I jogged the course, met a great mother daughter team from Fargo, and enjoyed the day. I jog at a slow pace (no, I did not walk) and appreciated that this event was open to all fitness levels. This was an important goal for me. I ran distance in high school over three decades ago. Now with the last of five children ready to leave home my daughter encouraged me to start to jog. I set out on an eight week journey which culminated on Saturday July 23rd. I went from jogging a very short distance, merely yards, to a 5K and reducing my size by 40 lbs. This was a grandma going from kitchen to 5k. Thank you for being the first watering stop on the trails ahead (next stop 10K, ½ marathon, ?). Next year I plan to be back and include my grandchildren in the Munchkin Run." - God Bless, Nancy (loving the jog)

SUMMER STRENGTH CAMPS
Survivor 21 Holly Hoffman made a visit to the YMCA Summer Strength Camps! She told her inspirational success story to over 70 campers and parents at Oakes, ND High School and Groton High School in Groton, SD. Trainer Derik Budig personal trained Holly for Survivor 21 and he wanted Holly to share her story of how hard work pays off. She stressed effort, attitude, mental focus and toughness. She also said that you need to allow yourself to grow emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Holly said she has learned so much about herself from the challenges of Survivor 21 and she challenged each kid to never be afraid to take a risk in life -- the only losers in life are those who are too afraid to fail!
