FIREFLIES
It’s the month of red hearts, valentines, kindness and colors! We will be having a Valentines Day party on the 14th. We have 20 preschoolers in our classroom. We ask that when you help your child with filling out valentines you leave the To: line blank and encourage your child to sign his/her own name.
January flew by fast! Throughout the month we were very busy! We paid close attention to rhyming words, patterns and coin recognition. We will be observing Ground Hog Day, winter and the colors around us. Please check your calendar for our color days.
As we talk about Valentines Day and discuss bringing Valentines to classmates we also focus on friendship and its meaning. We often remind the children that feelings are everywhere. The favorite childhood memories of many adults involve friends- in a sense; friendship is what childhood is all about. Friendships are not only a source of fun; they help kids grow in meaningful ways.
Fun fact: The average four year old asks 437 questions a day!

CATERPILLARS
Whether it is the pet store, the museum, the mall, the park or the YMCA, field trips for young children are important. While schedule and consistency are vital for all kids, they also need exciting special occasions to look forward to. Field trips inspire the body and mind as they broaden a child’s experiences and horizons.

DRAGONFLIES

Love maketh its own summer time,
'Tis June, Love, when we are together,
And little I care for the frost in the air,
For the heart makes its own summer weather.
Love maketh its own winter time,
And though the hills blossom with heather,
If you are not near, 'tis December, my dear,
For the heart makes its own winter weather.
Enjoy the season!!

Roses are Red

And so are you.
And so they are
That sent you this
And when we meet
We’ll have a kiss.

LADYBUGS

Love is in the air! We will be having pajama day on the 14th for our Valentine’s Day party. Have you met Brittany yet? She is our new afternoon teacher! Please continue to wash/sanitize your hands before entering our room to help keep illness away. Hopefully we will have a healthy month!
We have been busy in the Ladybug room, visiting the Honeybee room, developing our large motor skills by climbing on and exploring new toys, pulling up and discovering toys on higher shelves, and sitting in the toy box after all the toys are on the floor. They definitely keep us on our feet! Our room may look like a disaster to others but to us it’s our masterpiece!
Welcome to our newest friend Jaxon!

AFTER THE BELL

With kids now back in school, and staff back from break, we feel a little more back to normal. This month the kids got to participate in the free skate day on January 18. They had a blast! It is so fun to get to see the kids do things that are difficult, and not give up. Even if they fall, they just get right back up and keep on trying! That attitude and determination we are seeing is awesome! Watching them teach themselves to not give up and to keep trying shows us that they are learning the skills needed to be successful, and how to become better at what they want to do.
At this age, children look at their ability to achieve, by looking at their own abilities and talents. Parents can help their children by taking a look at his/her interests and strengths, and encouraging them to do activities that will show off his/her talents. This will not only allow your child to see what is feels like to be successful, but it will also help with his/her self-esteem.
