FAMILY SPOTLIGHT:
 MEET THE MOON'S

moon The Moon family is relatively new to Aberdeen. They moved here in May 2012. Josh and Andria Moon have two boys. Brady (5) is in Kindergarten at May Overby and Kellen (2) is in the Kansas classroom. Josh and Andria both grew up in Wisconsin and now work at Northern State University. Josh is the Athletic Director and Andria is an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education/Early Childhood. They met in college at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where Josh played football. The Moon Family spends most of their time cheering on the NSU athletic teams and attending other various activities at the university.

Brady (5) has grown up watching collegiate athletic events at Central Michigan University, Western Illinois University, and now at Northern State University. He is a true sports fan! Brady plays youth soccer, basketball, and t-ball (and even ran his first ever Little Eagles cross country race). When he’s not playing sports, Brady is into building with LEGOS, playing board games (Sequence and Monopoly are his favorites), reading, writing, and playing with G. I. Joe action figures. His favorite color is orange.

Kellen (2) is a fun-loving and goofy little guy. He loves to copy his big brother and shows off whenever he can. You will probably see him smiling and talking up a storm. He loves the Youth Development Center and all of his teachers. He enjoys going to the pool and playing outside with his friends. At home, Kellen builds with Lincoln Logs, plays with matchbox cars, and likes coloring with markers. Kellen loves bubbles, minions, chocolate, Storybook Land, and his green “blankie."

PARENT'S NIGHT OUT

dingers Parents Night Out will be held Friday, December 20th, from 5:30-8:00pm at the YMCA for 4 year olds through 5th grade. There will be food, inflatables, pool, games, crafts, and so much more for the kids to take part in. Drop the kids off and enjoy some last minute Christmas shopping. Cost is free for Y-Members and $10.00 for a non-member family!

Registrations

Just like October our November flew by! We can tell by the looks on parent’s faces when they walk in our front door that the holiday stress is already beginning!

Just like adults, children feel stress too. We try to keep in mind that children’s behaviors may change during these next few months. Not only are family routines different but our weather will drastically change. Remembering that even simple things like these contribute to children’s changing behaviors. Ways to combat stress in children can be as simple as talking about all of the changes and acknowledging that routines are different to taking some extra time to relax and remembering that sleep is so important to a child’s health and well-being.

We are still taking pictures of parents and children for our software. We will use your picture along with your information to identify you when we have our pick-up door open. If you have not submitted a picture by email we will continue through each room until we have everyone's pictures! For staff to be able to identify parents is another way we are working to keep your children safe!

If you purchased popcorn from our Popcorn Palace brochure, money is due by Dec. 2nd so that we can get our orders back by Christmas!

Please remember to check out the monitor in our lobby for current pictures of the children as well as other pertinent information. Don’t forget that you can email your child’s classroom!


Announcements

CLOSURES
We will close at 12pm on December 24th (no lunch will be served) and remain closed for Christmas on the 25th. It will help us with staffing if you can let us know if your child will or will not be here on the 26th.

TAX STATEMENTS
End of the year tax statements will be emailed on January 2nd. Please make sure we have your updated and current email address on file.
