Spring is in the air and the children are itching to be outside! We will be going outside as much as possible but mud and ice may not make for a clean or dry child when you arrive…we apologize in advance!
We have a new staff member, Brenna McTeer. She is a PC student like Karly. We are excited to have her working with us! She is already acquainted with your children. Please make sure you introduce yourselves if you haven’t already!
Kindergarten children will also participate in picture day on April 3rd. We understand that most of you may not want individual pictures taken, because you have their school pictures, but we really want all of the children here so that we can have a class picture taken of our awesome Butterfly group of 2012-13!
We also want you to remember that everyone, including kindergarten parents, are invited to our Ice cream Social on the 19th! It is a very big deal to all of the children to have their parents come to eat ice cream with them. If you are unable to attend please try to have someone come in your place. In the past we have had favorite Aunts, Uncles, Neighbors, Grandmothers & Grandfathers, and even older siblings come in place of a parent.
Be watching your check in/out page for IMPORTANT Summer information!!

This month we will be blasting off and exploring different shapes and outer space. Along with that we will be practicing our home addresses, skipping and shoe tying. Help from home is always appreciated. Our April is jammed packed! Along with continuing our alphabet we have a book fair, a shape party, picture day, week of that young child, donut day, a “breakfast” bake sale, healthy kids day at the YMCA, an ice cream social, national volunteer week, earth day, show and share every Friday and four birthdays! Please be watching your child’s sign in page for more information (about everything)!
This time of the year many parents/guardians are faced with a difficult question. Is my child ready for kindergarten next year or should he/she wait a year? There are many benefits to waiting a year for kindergarten. Not only will this give the child another year to mature as a young child but also gives them another year to think about their future after high school. If you are questioning this and looking for advice please ask us!
Reminders: Please remember to leave personal toys at home (except for show and share days). May 3rd is the Spring Program at 4:30!
Thanks!

Spring has sprung and even though we enjoyed ourselves sledding in March, we find ourselves excited for the “Spring” weather to arrive!
We will be finishing up the alphabet this month, along with the numbers 9 and 10, and colors of purple and yellow. We will have Show-N-Share on Friday, April 5. Picture day is April 3, so don’t forget to bring your smile and maybe an extra set of clothes to change into after pictures.
Happy Birthday to Sophie and Brooke this month!
Have a great April!
Miss Amanda, Miss Robin, Miss Sammy, Miss Meagan, and Grandma Joyce
WE LOVE TO SING!!!! Music helps develop language and listening skills. It helps develop self-esteem because there is no right or wrong, it just is what it is. Music relieves stress and encourages creativity in children. Music is a gift you can give your child that will last a lifetime!
This month we will be talking about what we saw at the circus, the shapes that make up the world around us and we will end the month talking about all things spring!
We would like to wish Tucker a Happy Birthday on the 14th. We hope he has a great day!!
Happy Spring!
Miss Shelley, Miss Trisha, Miss Abby, Miss Ali, Miss Mckenzie and Miss Erica
GREEN UP POEM
The time has come once again
To show what we can do
To work together as a team
Not just one or two.
Together we can do anything our hearts desire.
You know we have done it even though we are tired.
So let's look to one another for comfort and cheer
Let's lean on each other as we cry our tears.
Because together we have a goal that we have all set
And that's to be the best team the judges have seen yet.
So let's go out on that floor as a winning team
Let's do what we do best and make that crowd scream.
Because together we can do it.
Together we can.
Together we can be the best team in the land.
Miss Shana, Miss Dana, Miss Meagan, Miss Niki, Miss Kayla, Miss Karen & Grandma Karen
"The April rain, the April rain,
Comes slanting down in fitful showers,
Then from the furrow shoots the grain,
And banks are fledged with nestling flowers;
And in grey shawl and woodland bowers
The cuckoo through the April rain
Calls once again."

April is here already…. Can you believe it? We will be going outside when the weather starts warming up, so please bring snow pants and boots. Just a reminder: April 3rd is picture day, so please bring your cutest smiles. The photographer will start with the youngest children first. Carter P. is turning 2 on the 17th, so please tell him Happy Birthday!!

Spring is here and hopefully the warm weather is on its way! We have a busy month planned at the Learning Tree! Picture Day is the 3rd, please have your child here by 8:45 for the class picture. Our class is always the first to go at 9. Even if you aren’t having individual pictures taken of your child we want everyone here for our group picture! There will be a Book Fair set up in the gym from the 8th-12th. There is always lots of board books included for our little ones! We will be having a Breakfast Bake Sale on the 17th to help celebrate the Week of the Young Child and raise money for our new playground. We will be finishing the week with our annual Ice Cream Social on Friday the 19th @ 3:00. Please plan to attend! It is always a great time to meet and visit with other parents in the center and of course a great time to enjoy ice cream with your little ones!
Happy Birthday to Brylee on the 24th!

Dancing benefits a child's education. Through dance, children not only learn the benefits of exercising, but they also learn coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, stability, memory and discipline. It also helps boost the child's self esteem. It makes them feel good and and helps them to gain confidence in their own abilities.
The children have been enjoying a new class that the Y has offered. It is called "Chicago Footwork." Not only is it a good work out, but it challenges the children. The ATB kids have been doing awesome at it. They seem to be able to pick up on the foot/arm work very quickly and stick with the instructor's pace. It is a great class for them to be able to participate in!
April has two no school days, they include : April 1st and 22nd!
Also in April we will be having Healthy Kids Day on the 18th. Your child will ride the van to the YMCA right after school, where they will be able to participate in all the fun activities that will be held there. Please pick your child up at the YMCA by 6:00pm.
If April is here it means big changes are about to happen at the center! This is the time of year when we begin to talk about children moving to their next classrooms. If a child has met all of the developmental milestones necessary to advance to the next classroom you will be given a “Congratulations” note this month with information on the next classroom, which your child will be entering, attached to it. If you have questions concerning your child’s development you should talk to the lead staff in your child’s classroom or the center director, Cari. April is also when you will be asked it you will be staying with us for the summer months (and we hope you will!). Be watching for a letter on your check in/out page next week telling you what you’ll need to do to insure that your child has a summer spot!
This summer, with our move to the new building, things will be a little different. To minimize as much stress as possible we will make small changes beginning now so that we won’t have so many big changes in August! By the time you read this we will have already converted to our new software. More changes will be announced as they happen. We hope you will be as excited about all the new possibilities just as much as we are!
PLEASE plan to attend as many activities as you are able to during the Week of the Young Child. Join us as we celebrate children during this very special week!!
Youth Development Center update…they are putting up sheetrock and hanging the lights in the gym!!!
We are so glad you are here!
