This is a free 4-week challenge beginning on January 13 is designed to engage all members to bank miles so we can move our Y plane to Sochi, Russia in time for the Olympics! Once we get to Sochi, we will turn our focus to the Y’s Olympic Rings, which are: Social Responsibility, Youth Development, Healthy Living, Volunteerism and Fundraising. Let’s be cause driven together and join us in telling our stories of how the Y has impacted you in those 5 areas! After the Olympics are over, we will also travel back to Aberdeen!
To participate, please log your miles in the Wellness Center. You can record 5 miles per class attended in Group Fitness Classes (Water + Land) or record all other Cardio (Treadmill, bike, elliptical, etc.) as miles obtained in your workout. Each day our wellness staff will move our plane closer to our destination!

VICKI LUST
NAMED EMPLOYEE OF
THE QUARTER
Vicki Lust, who has worked for the Y for four years, is caring towards our members and her co-workers; she is always honest and respectful of others and takes her responsibilities as a Y staff seriously. Vicki has a great attitude and you’ll always see her wearing a smile! Vicki’s attitude and personality are definitely contagious and worth catching. Vicki is always complementary to others. She is gifted in building up others and making them feel good. Vicki is dedicated to our Y and our members and this is reflected in how she knows members’ names and greets them with an upbeat attitude and smile. One of the qualities Vicki possesses, that sets her apart from others, is her reliability and her willingness to step up and help out when other staff become ill or must to be gone. Also, it is evident when attending Vicki’s classes that she spends a lot of time in preparation and working on choreography to provide just what her participants need/want from her classes.
Vicki has supported both the Group Fitness Department, and other areas of the Y for many years and for that we are very grateful. Vicki has always been a huge YMCA supporter. Prior to becoming a staff member, Vicki was a dedicated, loyal member for years. Often loyal Y members like Vicki make the best staff! And that has definitely been the case with Vicki. Thank you Vicki for your contributions to our Aberdeen YMCA and specifically to the Group Fitness Department. We thank you for your commitment, loyalty and hard work to our members!

WORTH A
THOUSAND WORDS
We want to take a minute to say thank you to all the volunteers, players, and fans that participated in the 33rd Annual Girls’ Interstate Basketball Tournament. This year we were privileged to have over 50 teams participate, which is encouraging as the tournament continues to grow in numbers. A tournament of this size is great for the community of Aberdeen and is possible only because many of you gave of your time and talents to help with the many areas needed/required to make it successful.
