How Can I Help?
The national YMCA motto is
"We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities." At the
Aberdeen Family YMCA, we believe "Strong Volunteers Build Strong
YMCA's !" YMCA's are volunteer founded
and volunteer led, and at the Aberdeen Family YMCA we rely on
volunteers' time and talent to help us deliver our mission to the
community.
Many opportunities are available for volunteering at the
YMCA. As a volunteer, one can help fulfill the YMCA's mission of
making positive changes in the lives of people living in and around
our community. We realize the value of community volunteers for our
organization and invite you to join this rewarding program.
For those of you who have donated your time, talent or treasures to the
YMCA you are truly appreciated. To show this appreciation the YMCA
will be implementing a Strong Volunteer Recognition Program. Each
month we will select a recipient of the Strong Volunteer Award for the
month. This individual will be highlighted on our Wall of Recognition
located in the member information center across from the front check
in system. At the end of the year we will select the Strong Volunteer
of the Year, who will receive recognition at our regional YMCA
Dakota Alliance conference.
Consider the YMCA as a place to donate your time and talents. Volunteers are vital to meet the needs of the kids, families and adults who live in the Aberdeen community. A few of the benefits of volunteering are the satisfaction of helping someone in need, creating new friendships, learning new skills and making a difference.
