American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
What do I benefit from coming to this class?
You would become a certified, Red Cross Lifeguard.
You will also be certified in First Aid and CPR for the Professional
Rescuer.
Who can attend?
Participants must be 15 years of age or older.
How much will this cost?
$50.00 non-refundable deposit with this registration form, or
full payment of $150.00
Who is the Instructor?
Bruce Kleinsasser Certified Area Lifeguard
Instructor.
- Pre – register one week prior to each class
- Any applications received after the due
date will be assessed a $20.00 fee.
- Class is 28.5 hours long
- Upon receiving registration, the times
will be sent to you.
- Must have (6) participants in order to
conduct the class.
The classes do fill up fast, the sooner you get your
application in the better the chance of you attending the
class that you want to.
Pre-Course Session Requirements
1. Swim
300
yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
- 100 yards of front
crawl using rhythmic breathing and stabilizing, propellant kick every
stroke.
- Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side
or to the front.
- 100 yards of
breaststroke.
- 100 yards of front
crawl using rhythmic breathing or breaststroke. This 200 yards may be
a mixture of front crawl and breaststroke.
2. Swim 20 yards
using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10
feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20
yards back to the starting point with the object.
